Kilkenny has a strong reputation for creativity and artistic excellence, Cartoon Saloon, the Two Time Oscar nominated animation studio as based here in Kilkenny City. Cartoon Saloon have made ‘Song of the Sea’ and ‘The Secret of Kells’, the following television animation series are also produced by Cartoon Saloon: Skunk Fu!, Puffin Rock

Kilkenny has been the setting for some amazing film shoots. The picturesque village of Inistogie, on the banks of the Nore, has been the location for the movie ‘Circle of Friends’ and was also used in ‘Widows Peak’.
